This condition is characterized with psychotic symptoms such as hallucinations, delusions and paranoia, creates disconnect the individual from reality. While not everyone who uses cannabis develops psychosis, but certain factors can increase vulnerability such as:

  • Frequent or heavy use of high-potency cannabis.
  • Genetic predisposition to mental health disorders like schizophrenia or bipolar disorder.
  • Adolescence: The developing brain is more susceptible to the psychoactive effects of cannabis.
