Understanding the symptoms and differences between child and adult ADHD is essential to providing appropriate support. Let’s understand the differences between child ADHD and adult ADHD symptoms.

Differences Between Child ADHD and Adult ADHD Symptoms

Child ADHD Symptoms: Children with ADHD often display overt hyperactivity, such as constant fidgeting, running around excessively, or an inability to sit still. They may struggle to focus on tasks, frequently lose items, and have difficulty following instructions. Impulsivity, that leads to actions without thinking about consequences, such as interrupting others or blurting out answers. School performance is often get impacted due to inattention and poor organizational skills. Children may also face challenges in forming friendships due to their unpredictable behavior. Physical hyperactivity tends to be more pronounced in children. Tantrums and emotional outbursts are other typical symptoms are also may occurs. These behaviors are not just developmental phases but persistent traits and requires attention.

Adult ADHD Symptoms: In adults, ADHD symptoms often shift towards internalized struggles rather than overt hyperactivity. Adults may experience chronic disorganization, forgetfulness, and trouble managing time. They might procrastinate excessively, find it difficult to prioritize tasks, or feel overwhelmed by daily responsibilities. Impulsivity can manifest in risky behaviors like impulsive spending or difficulty maintaining stable relationships. Emotional dysregulation, such as frequent mood swings or frustration is common sign of adult ADHD. Medicine

There are 5 types of medicine licensed for the treatment of ADHD: *use only under supervision of your concerned psychiatrist.
